Benefits of being an IRKS member
It’s a great place to form friendships, as well as share knowledge and thoughts with other R/C modelers.
Club membership allows use of the club’s AMA insured flying field. This provides you with a safe location to fly your models without worry of frequency interference.
Monthly meetings give members an opportunity to display their latest aircraft and exchange building techniques with others. The meetings are also a great place to buy or sell used models or equipment, not to mention a monthly 50/50 raffle.
A monthly newsletter that provides information on what’s going on in the club, upcoming events, as well as items that other members have for sale.
Participate in our Participant of the Year program where you receive valuable prizes at the end of the year for participating in club meetings, events and workdays. Prizes are awarded to about one third of the club’s membership at our annual awards banquet.

Use of our entertaining and informative library of videotapes and DVD’s on model aircraft. These videos cover many aspects of building and flying model aircraft.
Knowledgeable and willing flight instructors to aid beginners in preparing and flying their first aircraft. Club instructors can offer expert advice on model, engine and radio selections as well as good construction techniques.
Experienced R/C pilots can test fly, trim, and advise you on your radio controlled model airplane.
How to join the IRKS
You only need to complete two steps to become a member of the Indian River Kontrol Society (IRKS).
1.You must first be a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA)Below is a list of several ways to get an application to join the AMA.
a.You can pick up an application at any of our local hobby shops that are listed in the phone book.
b.You can get an application out of any copy of Model Aviation magazine.
c.You can download one from AMA’s website at www.modelaircraft.org
d.You can apply by phone by calling AMA at 1-800-435-9262. Upon request, AMA will FAX you membership confirmation, which can be used as proof of membership.
e.You can ask a member, if you are at the field, to get you an AMA application from the club shed.
2.For the final step you only need to fill out a club application and send it in with your membership dues and a copy of you AMA license or the AMA membership confirmation fax.

b.You can also get one by coming to one of our meetings, which are held at the Front Street Civic Center (US 1 & 192) every third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 PM. A map is also available from our website.
